It’s been six weeks since my trip to Peru. And I haven’t posted anything about Second Hand. Well some photos on Instagram but not many. In fact, I’ve been writing. Well, trying to write actually. I’ve been reading a lot, including reading about writing. It’s kind of strange doing circles around the writing thing: reading about writing, writing about writing… What about the actual writing?
Well, I knew it wasn’t gonna be easy. I am not even sure what am I writing. A novel? An essay? Just stuff? Yeah probably that. It helps to not label it. And of course, I change my mind every other day. Sometimes it’s ideas, sometimes it’s stories. Most times, it’s something in between. None of it is organised yet, but I still try to write a little bit everyday.
I have found out a few things: for example, my best time to write is right after dropping the kids to school. Before I start doing anything else (laundry, shopping, coffee with someone). I go home or to a cafe and I write. I don’t do it for long: 2 hours tops. Then it becomes silly.
I am learning slowly. I try to provide some regularity to my writing. I am hoping that something will take shape eventually. But I try to not let the fact that I have no idea what I’m doing, stop me. The key here is NO PRESSURE. I just want to enjoy it.
